Warts
Warts are areas of thickened skin caused by the human papilloma virus (HPV). There are several different types of warts, and they can occur anywhere on the body although hands, feet, and knees are common areas. Sometimes you will see black dots in the thickened skin of the wart that people may refer to as “seed warts”, however, these black dots are actually blood vessels within the wart. There are many different treatments for warts, but they are very stubborn and typically require several visits to treat them. Options for treatment include liquid nitrogen cold spray, injection with candida antigen, canthardin, podophyllin, squaric acid, laser, and salicylic acid.
