Brief info

Dr. Jennifer Bares specializes in medical and cosmetic dermatology. Originally from Trussville, Alabama, Dr. Bares graduated summa cum laude from Auburn University with a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering degree in 2012. She continued her medical training at The University of Alabama School of Medicine, where she graduated with summa cum laude and AOA honors at the top of her class in 2017. Dr. Bares completed an internship in Internal Medicine at Tulane University in New Orleans before moving to New York City to continue her dermatology training. During her time in New York, Dr. Bares served as a Dermatopharmacology fellow, where she helped carry out numerous clinical trials investigating new dermatologic therapeutics and published many journal articles. Dr. Bares completed her dermatology residency at The Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, in New York, NY in 2023. She was selected by her peers to be Chief Resident in her final year of training. She and her husband, Chandler, now reside in Trussville with their dog, Champ. Dr. Bares is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, the Women’s Dermatologic Society, and Alpha Omega Alpha.

Dr. Hughey is an amazing physician.  Clinically she is excellent and was able to spot melanoma when no one else could.  She is very efficient, yet EXTREMELY thorough.  I am convinced she saved my life by identifying my cancer.  She has an excellent bedside manner and will give you more information than you will ever want to know.  No question was left unanswered.   And her staff is amazing.  Highly recommend.
