Eczema

Is your skin dry with red, itchy areas? You may have eczema. Eczema can occur at any age and may be a result of genetics, dry skin, skin irritation, poor circulation or many other reasons. Childhood eczema is known as Atopic Dermatitis and requires diligent care of the skin. Your dermatologist will examine your eczema and help determine the possible cause and develop a comprehensive care plan to improve your scaly patches.

Tips to Avoiding Wintertime Dry Skin

Top 5 tricks to improve eczema:

  1. Use fragrance-free laundry detergents, soaps, and other products
  2. Choose a gentle bar soap and use it minimally rather than a body wash or harsh bar
  3. Moisturize daily with a thick cream (not a thin alcohol-based lotion)
  4. The best time to moisturize is within 3 minutes of your shower or bath
  5. Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated
