Microneedling
Microneedling is a procedure designed to smooth and brighten the skin. It consists of tiny zones of injury to the skin, which in turn cause collagen production and renewal of the dermis. Microneedling can be combined with Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) to produce more collagen stimulation and faster recovery. Prior to the procedure, numbing cream or ice can be applied to the skin to minimize discomfort. The skin is then cleansed and prepped. A gel or PRP is placed on the skin and a device which looks like a writing pen glides over the treatment areas, delivering the tiny punctures in the top layers of the skin. The procedure lasts about 20-30 minutes. Following the procedure, the skin is to be kept clean for 12 hours and strenuous activity avoided. After that, makeup can be applied, and normal activities can be resumed. Sun exposure should be minimized during the healing phase. Downtime is minimal, although mild redness may persist during the days following the procedure.
